Barbara Bordnick, Professional Photographer (Barbara Bordnick Photography) Visit This Photographer's Web Site: http://www.barbarabordnick.com Barbara Bordnick, a native New Yorker born in the Bronx, received her BFA in fashion design and fine art from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. After graducation, Barbara and her husband traveled, worked and resided in Europe where she brgan her career in Copenhagen and Paris. Returning to open a studio in New York, her fashion portrait photography in HARPER'S BAZAAR began drawing acclaim.
In the past 35 years, Barbara has been published internationally in most major magazines and has received innumerable awards for her film and print advertising and editorial work. Her photography has been exhibited around the world and she is widely collected.
Although a self-taught photographer, Barbara's work has included such innovative projects as a commissioned Calendar of Great Women in Jazz to introduce large format Polaroid film, directing award-winning TV commercials for JCPenney fashions, and her two new, immensely celebrated books of beautiful, digital photographs, SEARCHINGS: Secret Landscapes of Flowers. Barbara's Photographs were the inspiration for, and an integral part of the choreography and stage set of Jennifer Muller's ballet "Flowers".
Recently, Bordnick's portrait of lyricist, E.Y. "Yip" Harburg, became a United States commemorative postage stamp, issued on April 28th, 2005 at a gala in New York City.
In addition to her photography, Ms. Bordnick is a much-sought-after lecturer and teacher of workshops, in the United States and Europe and is an adjunct professor at the Parsons School of Photography in New York City. An avid, supporter of her profession, Barbara was the first women to serve as President of the American Society of Media Photographers as well as president of the Advertising Photographers of New York.
